Microsoft Word adds its name to PDFs

Something I’ve been struggling with when generating PDF files from Microsoft Word. When you do that it actually adds a PDF meta info title Microsoft Word — Document Name.docx.

The last thing I want is my PDF to have a mention of the tool I used or the extension of the original file.

So how to fix this? Well, don’t use the Save As feature of Microsoft Word! Use the the Print instead! Once you open the Print dialog you can actually Save as PDF and that will give you the option to change the PDF meta info Title field.

I hope I saved somebody some time and maybe some money by not purchasing Adobe Acrobat Pro DC to just change this title :)
